When Does Life Begin?
by Maureen Condic PhD, Associate Professor of Neurobiology and Anatomy at the Univeristy of Utah, is a Catholic expert in stem cells who has worked extensively to formulate and dispense our Catholic understanding of this technology. In her talk she will give a brief introduction to the different kinds of stem cells that are used in research and then discuss the scientific and ethical problems raised by the use of embryonic stem cells. In particular, she will focus on issues of economic justice, racial discrimination and exploitation of women. She will conclude by presenting some promising alternatives to research on embryos.
Staff is needed to lead Totus Tuus, the vacation bible school offered in many parishes in the Diocese of Nashville and overseen by Fr. Baker. Staffers earn a modest stipend & abundant graces.
